अगर मेरे बस में होता (कविता का शीर्षक)
आसमान के सारे चाँद-तारे तोड़ लाता,
दुनिया की सारी सुंदरता,
तुम्हारे बालों में सजा देता,
अगर मेरे बस में होता,
दुनिया के सभी झरनों को ,
मैं “माही” बना देता,
आँखों से बहते आँसू,
और लबों पर मुस्कान झलकते,
दोनों को मैं संगम बना देता,
अगर मेरे बस में होता,
रातों में भी तुम्हारे, ख्बाबों में सोता,
सपनों में तेरी यादों को संजोता,
इन सपनों को मैं शाही बनाता,
अगर मेरे बस में होता,
हम-तुम से तुम्हारा हमसफर बन जाता,
तुमसे बात करने का बहाना मिल जाता,
मिलती तुम तो, किस्मत को खज़ाना मिल जाता,
अगर मेरे बस में होता ।

Tumhare baalo mein saja deta (I would have decorated your hair with)
Agar mere bas mein hota (If I had the power to do so)
Duniya ke sabhi jharno ko (The entire waterfalls of this world)
Main Mahi bana deta (I would have turned them divine)
Ankho se bahte ansu (The tears shedding from eyes)
Aur labo par muskaan jhalakte (And smile on lips)
Dono ka main sangam bana deta (I would have got them together)
Agar mere bas mein hota (If I had the power to do so)
Raato mein bhi tumhare, khwabo mein sota (I would have slept in your dreams every night)
Sapno mein teri yaado ko sanjota (I would have remembered you in my dreams)
In sapno ko main shahi banata (I would have turned these dreams luxurious)
Agar mere bas mein hota (If I had the power to do so)
Ham-tum se tumhara hamsafar ban jata (I would have become your life partner)
Tumse baat karne ka bahaana mil jata (I would have got the excuse to talk to you)
Milti tum to, kismat ka khazana mil jata (If I had you, my destiny would have won a jackpot)
